Over the weekend the annual baking of the pasties occurred. The recipe we used has been in the family since the early 1940s, if not earlier. Each year we make them for my FIL’s birthday.
It is an all-day ordeal and there is no recipe. Each selected new Mrs. Cee has to learn the dash of this, handful of that ingredient list to carry on the recipe.
After eight years of practicing my dough was finally given the seal of approval, which is super special to me. I love that fact that hubs and I will get to continue on the tradition.
My FIL grew up eating them as a kid in Michigan and now it is such a special day filled with baking and family showing up for their handful of tasty pasties.
Such a special day and a perfect way to start my photojournal project for this year.
